#FP150 Community Board

Simon Poulter, 15 March 2019

An informal discussion group, the Community Board, has been set up by 2NQ to capture the practical and creative input of the large number of community groups & organisations, and their members, from across the park, in the planning of events and activities celebrating this 150th anniversary year of Finsbury Park.

To date there have been two meetings, in the offices of the Finsbury Park Trust on Seven Sisters Road, where representatives of Haringey Council, Hackney Council, Finsbury Park Trust, Friends of Finsbury Park, along with the #FP150 initiators 2NQ, Furtherfield and Images&Co, got things underway.

Also present and making valued contributions in this early stage of the year were, in no particular order, Finsbury Park & Stroud Green Neighbourhood Plan, Jannaty, Islington Library, New London Performing Arts Centre, Pedal Power, Access To Sports, LatinoLife, La Clave Festival, and the London School of African, Caribbean & Latin Community Drumming, as well as local businesses Lacock Gullam, Simple Truth and other local residents.

We consider it essential to engage the rich and varied diaspora of communities and groups who have their home in and around the park.

This is a call out to all interested parties to get in touch and get involved. I am speaking for everyone so far involved when I say it is the desire of all of us both to make this year a successful and memorable year, and to ensure that with shared vision and planning the future and longevity of the park and its community activities are enhanced and assured.
